Season 25_26 - Introduction
We welcome Burnley, Leeds and Sunderland back to the Premier league for this coming season and look forward to another positive and comradery filled season ahead.
Season 25_26 - Important News
Score Predictor is evolving. In a world of change we are introducing two wonderful and exciting new categories of points, the below innovations we owe to the creativity and commitment of our predictor colleague Corky (thanks for your efforts)
CleanSweep this mercurially rare event where a predictor correctly predicts the outcome of all 10 games will benefit the predictor by a multiplication of the total week's points of 10 times.
LoneWolf this less rare occurance will recognise points won by a predictor on a game by game basis where no other predictor has chosen the same outcome by a multiplication of that games points of 5 times this can happen more than once per week more than once per predictor but can only happen once per game.
Magic Bullet remains as last season where the score for a magic bullet game is multilied by 3.

Season 24_25 - Outcome
This season was thoroughly dominated by Dr Luke, more commonly known nowadays by the monniker Dr Dread, he not only finished first in the highly competitive Predictor league but also brought forth (with the help of hs wife Siobhan) a second child. Welcome to Cathal's new sister Sadbhb (Sive). Well done Luke as you join Kevin in the annuls of history as a second time winner!!! Notable mentions to all eight Predictors who battled through the season. It seems strange however that in second place Josh never actually sat atop the league for even one week, intriguing.

Notable observations; TJB was the only predictor to not predict a draw for one team Mn Utd) all season. Vasken had the highest score in week 5 with 715 points. Corky posted the first ever zero points score in week 37 as he chased glory with outrageous predictions.
Historical Perspective
The 2018-2019 season was the first time I took over the running of the predictor league and results from that season can be seen below in this archive. However it has recently re-emerged that we did indeed join together for the 2017-2018 season using what was then the BBC app. The league we called Bradyclan and the original protagonists were:
-
TimboJoe - yours truly Commish
-
OnceAHappyMan - Mike Sweeney Sr
-
OnceAnEejit - Mike Sweeney Jr
-
SuperFunTime - Kevin
-
Trump FC - Nick Brady
-
One Trick Bony - Luke Sweeney
-
Onceaweek - Josh
-
onceaneagle14 - Corky
-
Peppapig14 - Louis Brady.
These days predated the inclusion of Paul Webster and Vasken Demirjian. Mike Sweeney Sr declined to continue and Nick and Louis were excluded for lack of commitment.
We had a Predictor Gate situation during this season when on the 30th Dec 2017 whistle-blower Mike Sweeney Jr blew open a controversy that nearly caused international fall out. Here is the press release:
BREAKING NEWS: Following recent scandal involving current Everton Manager Sam “Big Sam” Allardyce, the FA have launched an investigation into the recent actions of Predictor League’s Tim “Big Tim” Brady. While the FA wish to protect the confidentiality of the source of the footage leaked above, they wish to release the following statement: “The evidence speaks for itself and clearly displays a culture of dollar-chasing and rule-avoidance by the leader, organiser and creator of the predictor group. Tim has used his position to “get around” rules and clearly admits his knowledge of a Ponzi scheme involving his Brother Michael “Corky” Brady and Michael’s son Nick, in which Michael makes the predictions on behalf of his son on a weekly basis. The FA wish to distance themselves from such a systematic failure in governance. Tim’s day of reckoning has been coming and now it’s here”. The FA do not wish to comment any further until a statement is released on behalf of the parties involved.

Every time I look at my results in the predictor league!!!!

On the 14th May 2018 we completed the first season together as a band of brothers and it was One Trick Bony (Luke Sweeney) that topped the pile - our inaugural and lost and forgotten first ever champion.

Over our eight seasons only three predictors have never won the title; TJB, Corky and Mike (this year eh!) Three predictors have a sole title; Josh, Paul and Vasken, leaving one person with two titles Kevin. Finally our current undisputed and three times overachiever Luke!!! Finally we can all agree as the history is unveiled.

Season 24_25 - Introduction
We welcome Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton (bad luck Leeds) back to the Premier league for this coming season and look forward to another positive and comradery filled season ahead - I wonder if Man City may be kicked out of the premier league completely?
Season 23_24 - Summary
What a thoroughly enjoyable season that was, congratulations to Kevin our first return winner! This season was great entertainment with a close run title race and point deductions all adding to the intrigue. Your very own Commish had a heady 13 weeks atop the league before Corky and the great Kevin pipped him to the automatic promotion places. Vasken suffered the second season slump after dominating last season. Highest scoring week was Week 23 with 45 goals, weekly average was 33 goals. Highest points score for all predictors weirdly was Week01 with 4580 points, the highest single predictor score was from Luke also in Week01 with a whopping 800 points. The lowest single weekly score fell to Vasken in Week11 and Week28 with only 60 points.

Some notable observations; Paul and Kevin never predicted a Man City loss, Vasken never predicted a Liverpool loss, and Luke and Paul never predicted an Arsenal loss. Kevin never predicted a Luton or Sheffield win, Josh never predicted a draw for Brighton or Man City
Season 23_24 - Introduction
Thanks again to all my lovely predictors for the love and support here is to great fun and comradery this season!
Last season was really the story of the US contingent' Here's hoping that this year we can see a resurgence of the European predictors. I predict Luke will be back as he will have finally gotten over the shock of becoming a father and Moicle the shock of becoming a husband - Kevin brilliantly under the radar as always can never be counted out! As his fellow Toffee also can be something of a dark horse. We are relieved that the Everton boys will remain in the predictor league as I did hear that a premier league without beloved Toffee representation might have been too great a burden to bear from some - lets hear it for the Toffees!! Europe at the end of this season rather than staring at relegation yet again. While we are at it what is up with Villa so far surprise packages and flying high as we enter the Christmas New year madness.
Season 22_23
What an epic voyage season 22_23 was. Vasken won by staying the distance and defeating his bff in the end through tenacity and brave predictions. Corky led from Week 2 to Week 13 then the lead changed hands between weeks 14 - 24. Then Corky took back the lead for weeks 25-32, but then Vasken ground it out leading from week 33 to the end. What was remarkable is that for all the 28 weeks of leadership by Corky he returned highest weekly points total only once! The highest weekly score of the season was posted in Week4 by Vasken with 780 points! The lowest by Corky in week 12 at 30 points!

Season 21_22
Another season challenged by the ravages of the COVID pandemic, so much so that one fateful week (28) 2 predictors failed to submit predictions and received zero points. One of these however is our king of predictors Kevin. Luke started the year strongly holding the leaders jersey for the first five weeks, then Vasken for 2 weeks (a popular leader) then Josh for one week, followed by Luke for another 6 weeks then for the final 24 weeks Kevin dominated with Luke leading again one week only.
Josh abandoned his long held strategy of never predicting draws - Luke, Cork and Mike never once predicted a Man City loss, Kevin and Vasken never once predicted a Liverpool loss. Vasken and Mike never predicted a Norwich win. TJB never once predicted a Chelsea draw? Weirdly Leeds were the club with most predictions for draws through the season. We had an average of 28 goals per week and the highest scoring week (19) saw 42 goals.

Season 20/21
A disjointed and difficult season devasted by COVID was won by Luke, in fine fashion, with Josh a very close second - the introduction of the magic bullet and new scoring system did mean that it went down to the wire - but in the end quality prevailed.

Season 20/21
Big changes this season with the introduction of case1 a 100 point away win exact score prediction and the introduction of the Magic Bullet game choice which multiplies the predicted score for that particular game by 3

Season 19/20
Won by Josh Brady, with Kevin having led for two thirds of the season Josh came through at the last 12 games. So close kev! Highest score for a week in this season was |Corky with a creditable 325 in Week 4 including 4 exact predictions (no I'm not going to tell you how many were away wins!!

Season 18/19
Inaugural season won at a trot by the indefatigable Paul Webster, many thought he was an invented pseudonym that I used to just enjoy messing with everyone. His Victory over Lawro was sweet. The highest score all season was 425 by Lawro in Week 7 which included a remarkable 6 exact 60 point predictions
